Mahfooz Maqam; an Interesting Urdu Novel by Aleem Ul Haq Haqqi

Mahfooz Maqam (English: Safe Place) (English: محفوظ مقام) is a fabulous and very interesting Urdu novel written by Aleem Ul Haq Haqqi, the well known and famous Urdu social and romantic novelist who is best known for his remarkable and best seller Urdu romantic novel Ishq Ka Ain. The novel tells the story of some dark faces of human psychology and bad effects of human greed which often leads one to the way of crime. It has the origin and back ground of Kenya which is newly independent from white people's ruling and it seems to be translated from a foreign language into Urdu.

Mato is a Negro of Kenya who works in the house of an English man. One day he reaches his employer's house to prepare breakfast for him, but he finds his boss killed in his room. He calls the police. Next day police once again come to the house where his boss was killed and his childhood friend Tano was also with the police wearing police uniform. But his friend does not show any warmness towards him.

Police investigate him and ask some questions about the incident and also try to know the motive of murder. He could not say anything. One the police leaves the house, he starts cleaning the house and suddenly he hears voice of Tano. Now Tano starts investigating him about the diamonds which his boss hid somewhere in the house.

Mato realizes that Tano is the killer of his boss and he did it for the greed of diamonds. He asks him where his boss had hidden the diamonds in his house. He could not answer and he says the he does not know about that. Later he finds the place where the diamonds were kept. But he does not inform the police about anything.
