Ab Mera Intizar Kar; a food for thought novel by Umaira Ahmad

AB MERA INTEZAR KAR, by Umaira Ahmad, is very beautiful and eye opening Urdu novel. The novel deals with a very sensitive and burning issue of Muslim Society.

Almost all the novel comprises of some letters written by Dr. Sayyida Durr-e-Maknoon to her friend Dr. Maryam lives in London.

Dr. Aashir Usmna and Dr. Durr-e-Maknoon love each other and Aashir sends his proposal to her parents but they refuses the proposal because Aashir is not a Sayyid and they are not agree to let their daughter marry a non Sayyid boy as they believe that it is not allowed in Islam though they are wrong because according to Islam it is very OK to for a Sayyif girl to marry a Non Sayyid boy.

The situation becomes worse when her parents enforce her to marry his cousin Sayyid Sibt Ali who was in love with her sister Durr-e-Najaf and she (Durr-e-Najaf) also loves him. When she finds no way out she takes very bold step. She thinks if she marries Sibt Ali she will do something very bad to Sibt Ali and Durr-e-Najaf. More, Dr. Aashir, who waits her till now, will lose his trust in girls. If she does not obey her parents she will be hurt by her own heart and she will always feel guilt that she did not obey her parents. Therefore, she takes the extreme step which was safe for all, and that is none other than suicide.
