Gadariya; a Fabulous Short Stories Collection by Ashfaq Ahmad

Ashfaq Ahmed, (Performance), (Sitara Imtiaz) (Urdu: اشفاق احمد) (August 22, 1925 – September 7, 2004) was a distinguished writer, playwright, broadcaster, intellectual and spiritualist from Pakistan. His prime qualities of heart and hand earned appreciations across the borders. 

He was regarded by many as the best Urdu Afsana (short-story) writer after Saadat Hasan Manto, Ismat Chughtai and Krishan Chander following the publication of his famous short-story "Gaddarya" [The Shepherd] in 1955.

He and his wife Bano Qudsiya both produced a great contribution to Urdu Adab and they would always be remembered by Urdu lovers as their books will remain them alive in the hearts of the readers.
This short story Gadaraiya later has been published with some other short stories by Ashfaq Ahmad and he gave the title of Gadariay for the collection.

This collection has earned appreciations across the globe. There are nine short stories in the collection and all of them are quite interesting. The collection begins with Gadariya which is a story of a boy who was not interested in study and a man Dao Jee takes the responsibility of teaching him.
