Lauh-e-Mazar; a Beautiful Short Story by Maupassant

Henri René Albert Guy de Maupassant (5 August 1850 – 6 July 1893) was a popular 19th-century French writer, considered one of the fathers of the modern short story and one of the form's finest exponents.

A protégé of Flaubert, Maupassant's stories are characterized by their economy of style and efficient, effortless dénouement. Many of the stories are set during the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870s and several describe the futility of war and the innocent civilians who, caught in the conflict, emerge changed. He also wrote six novels.

Lihaf; a Famous Urdu Short Story by Ismat Chughtai

Ismat Chughtai (Urdu: عصمت چغتائی) (August 1915 – 24 October 1991) was an eminent Urdu writer, known for her indomitable spirit and a fierce feminist ideology. She was considered the grand dame of Urdu fiction, as one of the four pillars of modern Urdu short story, the other three being Saadat Hasan Manto, Krishan Chander, and Rajinder Singh Bedi. Her outspoken and controversial style of writing made her the passionate voice for the unheard, and she has become an inspiration for the younger generation of writers, readers and intellectuals.

Jennie; a Beautiful Urdu Short Story by Shafeeq Ur Rahman

Shafiq-ur-Rehman (Urdu: شفیق الرحمن) (Nov 9,1920 - Mar 19, 2000) was a famous Pakistani humorist and a short-story writer of Urdu language. He is one of the most illustrious writers of South Asia. Like P. G. Wodehouse, he has given enduring pleasure to his readers. He was a medical doctor by profession, and served in Pakistan Army.

Shafiq-ur-Rehman began writing humorous stories during his school days. His stories were published in a literary monthly magazine called Khayyam.

Shafiq-ur-Rehman's work added a new dimension to humor in Urdu literature. He created a world that was very real with all its joys, pains and anguish. It was an affirmation of life and of human values: empathy, compassion and respect. Even the seemingly frivolous and trivial situations had hidden meanings that probed deep into the human psyche. His language was simple, spontaneous and expressive.

An Orticle on Faiz With Some Rare Pictures

Faiz Ahmed Faiz (1911–1984) (Urdu: فیض احمد فیض) was a renowned Pakistani poet, and one of the most famous poets of the Urdu language. He was a member of the Anjuman Tarraqi Pasand Mussanafin-e-Hind (All India Progressive Writers' Movement) and an avowed Marxist. In 1962, he was awarded the Lenin Peace Prize by the Soviet Union.

On 13th February, 2011 the 100th birth day of Faiz Ahmad Faiz was celebrated across the globe. As Faiz was a Pakistani and his daughters and other many of his fans live in Pakistan, the country has taken a central status for the 100th birth day celebrations of this Marxist Urdu poet.

Bushra Farrukh; a Well Known Urdu Poetess

Bushra Farrukh (born 1957), is a Pakistani poet. She was born in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on February 16, 1957. She is one of the few well-known female Urdu poets of Pakistan. She has also served Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan as an announcer, compare, dramatist and playwright nearly four decades. She is the only artist of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa who has performed in four different languages Urdu, Pashto, Hindko and English at television and radio. She has the privilege of being the first female announcer and drama artist of Pakistan Television (Peshawar center). Bushra Farrukh has performed in more than 2000 radio and television programs. All her programs enjoyed huge popularity especially among the youth.

Bushra Farrukh is a well-known and distinguished poetess of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and her three poetry collections Ik qayamat hai lamha-e-maujood, Adhoory Muhabbat ka poora safar and Bohat Gehri Udasi Hai' have been printed. All her books got tremendous feedback from the literary class as well as from readers. Her first poetry collection ik Qayamat Hai Lamha-e-Majood has won Rozan International Literary Award while Abasin Arts Council has awarded Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar Award to her 2nd collection Adhuri Mohabbat Ka Poora Safar. Two additions of the above-mentioned book have been published so far.

Bushra Farrukh is also actively involved in social and literary activities and has remained General Secretary of the Women’s Writer Forum (WWF) the only representative literary organization of women in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Apart from being the office bearer of different Literary and Cultural Organizations she presently has been serving the WWF as Chief Organizer for last two years.

In addition to this she is in charge of the Literary Society of ICMS, the famous Educational Institution of Peshawar.

In recognition of her literary cultural and social services, she has received many awards, certificates and gold medals from different governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
