Ae Shab-e-Zindagi (اے شبِ زندگی) is an outstanding and beautiful Urdu social novel written by Rukhsana Adnan Nigar. The novel discusses the conditions of widowed woman in our society which an extremely burning issue.
Suman, is a mother of two children Sarmad and Maida is widow of Waseem who was killed in a road accident, lives, for some months, with his parents and brother Safdar. She is humiliated in his brother's house and especially her sister-in-law does not respect her and her brother does not take her and her children's responsibilities properly.
She loses self respect and always thinks about her condition and behavior of her relatives. One day her own cousin Farhan tries to get closer to her and when she refuses, he blames her for proposing him for marriage. This raises hater against her in the family and in next days she has to get married to Mujeeb-ur-Rahman who had divorced his first wife and is 15 years older than her.
In the beginning she faces some problems in Mujeeb's house but later it goes to a happy ending like other Urdu novels. That is the best part of the novel.
