He did his masters (M.A.) in Urdu and later on in English literature. He writes short stories and novels in Urdu, and also columns for newspapers in English.

Intizar Hussain has developed a unique prose style and is known for his nostalgia for older places and phenomena. His few prominent writings are "Hindustan Se Aakhri Khat" , "Agay Samander hai", "Shehr-e-Afsos" and "Wo Jo Kho Gaye".

“ZARD KUTTA” by Intizar Hussain is considered to be one of the best examples of Urdu prose. Luckily I have found this masterpiece and here going to share it with you. Please do read it and post your comments about it.

  1. Dear Dr. Israr
Some of the clippings in Urdu posted by you are so long that they become illegible on the computer screen, even though I have a very large monitor. Kindly see to it that such posts are posted in piecemeal like Shaheen Bachcha of Shaukat Thanvi.
You are rendering a great service to Urdu and its literature. Keep it up.

  3. Can you please repost a readable version of 'Zard Kutta'? The letters and words as uploaded are too small and when enlarged they are too dim to be readable.
