AITARAF; a Beautiful Urdu Translation of French Short Story "La Confession" by Maupassant

Henri René Albert Guy de Maupassant [ɡi də mopasɑ̃]; (5 August 1850 – 6 July 1893) was a popular 19th-century French writer, considered one of the fathers of the modern short story and one of the form's finest exponents.

A protégé of Flaubert, Maupassant's stories are characterized by their economy of style and efficient, effortless dénouement. Many of the stories are set during the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870s and several describe the futility of war and the innocent civilians who, caught in the conflict, emerge changed. He also wrote six novels.

I have come across one of his short story “La Confession” which is translated in English as “A sister’s confession” and into Urdu as “اعتراف”. Here you go the Urdu translation of it and if you want to have a test of English reading you can read the story by clicking here and in its original language French by clicking here. I did spend some time to search this and bring to you, hope you will like it.

Anees Nagi was a great figure of Urdu Adab in Pakistan. He was very popular for his boldness and daring personality. He always expressed what he felt and never cared what people will think about him and how they would react.

CHATAAN; an Urdu Afsaana by Ismat Chugtai

Ismat Chughtai (Urdu: عصمت چغتائی) (August 1915 – 24 October 1991) was an eminent Urdu writer, known for her indomitable spirit and a fierce feminist ideology. She was considered the grand dame of Urdu fiction, as one of the four pillars of modern Urdu short story, the other three being Saadat Hasan Manto, Krishan Chander, and Rajinder Singh Bedi. Her outspoken and controversial style of writing made her the passionate voice for the unheard, and she has become an inspiration for the younger generation of secular writers, readers and intellectuals.

I have come across one of her Afsaana CHATAAN which deals, like many other short stories of Ismat Chughtai, with misery and problems of women which are sometimes not problems actually. Rather these are somekind of natural changings but Ismat believes that problem for women. What else should we expect from a feminist like her?? Here you go the Afsaana CHATAAN!!
