Thori Dair Lagi (Urdu: تھوڑی دیر لگی) is beautiful and outstanding Urdu social novel written by Rukhsana Adnan Nigar which tells the story of changing behaviors and viewpoints of our society. It is the story of changing customs traditions and social values.
Saliha (Goshi) visits her brother's home and sees her niece Raheen's interest and talent in fine arts and her father's appreciation and recognition of her talent. She goes into her own past and recalls his youth days when she was very much interested in literature and poetry and even she tried to write poetry as well and one of her poem was published in college's magazine but her brother strongly condemned her interests and said her to stop these non sense [in his eyes] activities. One day when he saw her reading Ali Pur Ka Aili a fantastic auto biography by Mumtaz Mufti he burnt all of her books and diaries and get her married with Azeem in two months.
There one day she went to market and bought some books and her husband saw Thanda Gosht, a Vulgar Urdu short story by Manto and he threw the book out of the window and after that she never ever even touched a book let alone reading it.
But now both Azeem her husband and her brother are very pro education. Her daughter Adeen who is engaged with her nephew Ahmar get a scholarship in a Colombian University and Azeem snd her to her brother to ask some time delay in marriage as he wants to send her daughter for higher education. Otherwise he is agreeing to break this engagement; he never wants to miss this chance. Interestingly his brother accepts Azeem's viewpoint about education and they find a suitable choice for both the families.
