Sahir Ludhianvi (Urdu: ساحر لدھیانوی ;) (March 1921 – 25 October 1980) was a popular Urdu poet and Hindi lyricist and songwriter. Sahir Ludhianvi is his pseudonym. He won the Filmfare Award twice, in 1964 and 1977, and in 1971 was awarded the Padma Shri.
On 25 October 1980, at the age of fifty-nine, Sahir Ludhianvi suffered a massive heart attack and died in the arms of his friend Dr R.P. Kapoor. He was buried at the Juhu Muslim cemetery. His tomb was demolished in 2010 to make space for new bodies.
Hameed Akhtar, A Pakistani leftist writer and a close friend of Sahir, has written an article on Sahir and his life. I am going to share you that article here.
You can imagine how his life was full of miseries in last days. Although he got what he needed and dreamed for in his early life but his life was still free of joys and calmness.
People may disagree with me but I would say that Sahir and his atheism were only responsible for that. What should a person, who spent his whole life promoting anti Islamic beliefs and leaves a country just because there is Islamic culture, expect the last days of his life??
Read the article and think over it!!
Can sb translate it for fans of Sahir.
