Zamir Jafri (Urdu: ضمیر جعفری) (January 1, 1916 – May 16, 1999) was a Pakistani poet born in Jhelum. He became famous for his Urdu humorous poetry and also wrote humorous columns in the newspapers and periodicals. After graduating from Punjab University , he joined the army’s public relation department and retired as a major. One of his sons is a two star general and serving in the intelligence department, ISI, of the Pakistan army while another lives in the U.S.
Sayed Zamir jafri was a big name in Urdu Adab for poetry and as well as for his writings. He was a retired army officer, a poet, writer and columnist at the same time. Such a person does not get born every day. He died on May 16th 1999.
He published more than a dozen books in Urdu. Some of his book are mentioned below:
