Ismat Chughtai (Urdu: عصمت چغتائی) (August 1915 – 24 October 1991) was an eminent Urdu writer, known for her indomitable spirit and a fierce feminist ideology. She was considered the grand dame of Urdu fiction, as one of the four pillars of modern Urdu short story, the other three being Saadat Hasan Manto, Krishan Chander, and Rajinder Singh Bedi. Her outspoken and controversial style of writing made her the passionate voice for the unheard, and she has become an inspiration for the younger generation of writers, readers and intellectuals.
Ismat chughtai is known to be an extremist feminist, and because of her extremism she ignores some natural facts. Today I am posting an essay of her here which reflects her feminism. I hope you will agree with me after reading "Aadhi Aurat Adha Khwab" [Half Woman, Half Dream] by her. Here you go!
Mindset Changing Article for me, read it few years ago and came here after try to search it on internet, may ALLAH shower HIS blessing on her . This article should be the part of Urdu academic books, teenagers specially here in South Asia need to understand these bitter realities and move on accordingly.
